THE public has asked for it and now industry has delivered.
Western Australia’s first ever industry-backed mining, oil and gas jobs expo will bring thousands of ambitious jobseekers to the Burswood Convention Complex this month in pursuit of the modern day gold rush – a career in Australia’s burgeoning resource industry.
The two day event from May 25-26 presents the only opportunity this year for candidates to directly meet major players in the resource industry, from some of Australia’s biggest mining and construction employers to training institutes and government support services.
Hosted by national resource employer group AREEA (Australian Mines and Metals Association), the overarching goal is to give participants the tools and knowledge they need to break into a career in this exciting and growing industry.
“Jobseekers at the AREEA Miningoilandgasjobs.com Expo have the opportunity to talk directly with recruiters from employers like Rio Tinto, Downer EDI and Leighton Contractors,” says Minna Knight, AREEA Executive Director of Industry.
“Just as important is the range of allied and support service companies we’ve gathered to exhibit as well as the training providers and information services that will give jobseekers the skills and knowledge they need to achieve their career goals.
“This industry-run event caters for all types of candidates, including school and university graduates, people interested in moving into the resource industry and even those currently employed in the resource industry and looking for the next step in their careers.”
Just some of the 40 confirmed exhibition booths at the AREEA Miningoilandgasjobs.com Jobs Expo include: CSA Mine Glencore; Downer EDI Mining; Engineering Training Australia; Oz Minerals; Pilbara Institute/ Pilbara Skills Centre; Rio Tinto; Sodexo; Thiess Mining; and Toll Energy.
“This free-of-charge event is complete with info sessions for jobseekers on employment, training and study opportunities as well as information for school aged candidates about graduate, vacation and apprenticeship programs,” Ms Knight says.
“Similar industry events in Queensland drew crowds of up to 10,000 people all interested in getting onboard the burgeoning resource industry.
“We anticipate the first industry expo of this kind in Western Australia to be similarly successful and look forward to seeing thousands of jobseekers at the Burswood Complex on May 25.”
Launched in September 2011, AREEA miningoilandgasjobs.com is the resource industry’s own dedicated online recruitment and careers centre.
The site provides both an online jobs board and an extensive Careers and Industry Guide – the most comprehensive resource available today for jobseekers from Australia and overseas looking to work within the sector.
