Webinar – Mental Awareness, Respect and Safety (MARS) Program Landmark Study with Lead Researcher Dr Cheryl Yam
Join us for an informative session with Dr Cheryl Yam, Research Fellow at the Centre for Transformative Work Design, based at Curtin University’s Future of Work Institute (FOWI). An organisational psychologist registrar and Lead Researcher of the MARS Landmark Study, Dr Yam will provide actionable insights from the latest chapter of far-reaching research aimed at improving mental health and wellbeing in our industry.
This release surveyed more than 2500 WA mining industry workers and conducted in-depth interviews with a further 60, focusing on mental health and well-being; sexual harassment, assault and a respectful culture; and preparing for workplace safety in future mining.
Launched in December 2021 under the WA Government’s Mental Awareness, Respect and Safety (MARS) Program, the MARS Landmark Study evaluates data on mental health and well-being, sexual harassment and assault, and emerging mine safety issues in the face of technological advancements. The first three reports mapped current industry practices, completed a literature review, and conducted a workplace policy and practice survey.
