Michael Spencer joined the Westen Australian AREEA team in 2023 after more than 30 years as a HR practitioner with employers in the mining, oil, gas, and power industries and the federal government department of Employment and Industrial Relations.
Michael brings with him extensive relevant experience and is able to provide practical solutions and services in the areas of workplace investigations, enterprise agreements, HR policies and procedures, insourcing, outsourcing, mergers and acquisitions, HR/IR management plans, unfair dismissal, adverse action, discrimination, conciliation and training in appropriate workplace behaviours, right of entry and employee relations. Michael also has special interests in mediation, remuneration, mental health and injury management and is able to provide bespoke services and solutions in these areas.
Michael has worked closely with AREEA for over 15 years including recently as a member of AREEA’s Board Reference Group, and is able to assist members identify and assess current and potential workplace relations issues and solutions.
Michael has a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Industrial Relations and Politics, is a nationally accredited NMAS Mediator and has trained as a mediator and Gestalt therapist.
