A crackdown on the issue of 457 visas for skilled foreign workers is among the list of demands by independent senator Derryn Hinch in return for his support for the government’s key legislation to re-establish the Australian Building and Construction Commission.

“While the ALP, Greens and Jacqui Lambie have made it clear they won’t support these critical bills, all other crossbench senators must not be influenced by this lack of objectivity when casting their votes next week,” said Australian Mines and Metals Association chief executive Steve Knott.
