The resources and energy industry’s successes and contributions were in the spotlight last week as hundreds of industry professionals and representatives traveled to Brisbane and Perth for AREEA’s Annual Gala Dinners.

A key date in the resource and energy industry’s calendar, the long-running Gala Dinners provides AREEA members with an opportunity to let their hair down, re-connect with colleagues and peers and celebrate the industry’s achievements, local and national.

The fantastic turn-out to this year’s Galas – over 500 members joined AREEA at the events – captured the incredibly diversity of AREEA’s membership, with people from almost every sub-sector joining the celebrations.

In addition to networking and top-quality food and beverages, the event also involved Custom Acknowledgements of Country delivered by local schools who took part in AREEA’s Bright Future STEM Primary School Program in 2022 and performances by Mirusia Louwerse (Brisbane) and Prudence Sanders (Perth).

Joining the night’s main event, the presentation of AREEA’s Industry Awards, was the presentation of the Long Membership Awards to member companies who have been with the Association for 10, 15, 25, 40 and 45 years.

Reinforcing the industry’s contributions to wider society, at each event guest speakers from the local arts and culture scenes – WA Museum CEO Alec Coles OBE in Perth and Brisbane Festival Artistic Director Louise Bezzina – spoke about the support their respective scenes had received from the industry the potential to grow those connections.
