Join Bright Future STEM for Term Three

Following a highly successful Term Two in schools, AREEA’s Bright Future STEM program is full steam ahead for the second half of 2021.

In Term Two, 2000 students across New South Wales and Queensland were inspired to study the subjects which unlock resources and energy careers.

So far in 2021, the program has:

  • Engaged more than 2500 primary school students (aged 9-12) in the Bright Future STEM experience.
  • Visited 25 schools across Perth, Brisbane, Central Qld (Moranbah, Dysart), Regional Qld (Townsville, Toowoomba) and Regional NSW (Newcastle, Dubbo, Goulburn).
  • Inspired the students through our industry role models from resources companies Thiess, Anglo American, Gold Fields, UGL, New Hope, Easternwell, Ventia, Eagle Drilling and Minjar Gold.
  • Encouraged an interest in STEM using hands-on, interactive activities such as virtual reality, robotics, coding, electricals, environmental rejuvenation and the recently introduced Gravitrax engineering activity.

Help us drive a brighter skills future for our industry

Resources and energy employers know the importance of raising awareness of our industry amongst young Australians and the critical need to build the future pipeline of home-grown skills.

This is why AREEA continues encouraging students across Australia to study Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects to nurture the talent required to fuel our industry’s future.

AREEA’s Bright Future STEM program is bringing to life STEM subjects through a series of stimulating activities and industry role models (particularly female), all linking STEM back to real jobs in the resources and energy industry.

Why should your organisation get involved?

  • Boost your organisation’s profile and engagement with schools, teachers, parents, and students that will become our sector’s next-gen workforce.
  • Promote your organisation’s interest in STEM careers and the diverse and rewarding employment opportunities within the resources and energy industry.

If your company is interested in participating in the program, we would love to hear from you.
