FIFO Focus, in partnership with AREEA, is proud to offer two scholarships to members for a specialised training program in psychosocial risk management.
Who is FIFO Focus?
FIFO Focus provides tailored services to support FIFO employers create mentally healthy workplaces.
Registered psychologists and professionals offer a holistic approach to reducing psychosocial harm associated with working in remote locations, addressing the needs of the workforce and their families.
The program
The FIFO Focus Psychosocial Risk Management: Capability Enhancement Program works with WA mining companies to understand legislation, meet Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS) compliance requirements and develop skills to minimise harm, improve performance and increase productivity.
This comprehensive, four-day Australian Institute of Health & Safety-endorsed program is designed to drive change in the WA mining sector by recognising psychosocial hazards, analysing risk and developing strategies to mitigate, control and measure the impact.
AIHS members receive 24 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points on completion.
The program spans 3-4 months, with participants attending two days face-to-face, then conducting hazards identification and risk assessments over days 3 and 4, scheduled six to seven weeks apart.
The scholarship offer
FIFO Focus and AREEA are providing the opportunity for two members to attend the psychosocial risk management training course, starting in June 2024.
Expressions of Interest are sought, with the program recommended for:
- Health and safety practitioners and professionals;
- People and culture/human resources professionals;
- Health and safety representatives;
- Leaders committed to creating psychologically healthy workplaces; and
- People involved in the identification and management of psychosocial hazards.
While applications are open to all personnel from WA-based mining companies, service contractors are particularly encouraged to apply – with larger operations also asked to consider nominating those smaller businesses in their supply chain which are developing IR/ER/HR capacity.
