“Check-in” with your employees during Mental Health Week

As we look towards this year’s Mental Health Week (9-17 October) AREEA is supporting One Million Lives’ mission to help resources sector employees “check-in” on their mental wellbeing.

The One Million Lives initiative is assisting organisations in the resources sector with a new practical tool offering employees insights into their own mental health and wellbeing.

Employees can utilise the “check-in” mobile app completely free-of-charge, taking 5-7 minutes to receive a private score and report detailing the current state of their mental health.

Those organisations looking to be true leaders in mental health can go one step further and partner with One Million Lives towards their goal of having 5,000 people across the resources industry “check-in” during Mental Health Week.

One Million Lives is a shared vision by Jacobs and Australian Psychologist Peta Slocombe, seeking to change mental health “from the ground up”.

“The Resources Sector Mental Health Check-in is the biggest industry-wide mental health initiative ever undertaken in resources,” Ms Slocombe said.

“We are calling for company partners to pledge to give their workforce 5-7 minutes to stop and check in on their devices during pre-starts, safety and site meetings during Mental Health Week Oct 11-15.

“Whatever your role, site, company or country, and whether you are thriving or struggling, stand with your crews to show it is time to stop talking about mental health and start changing it.

“There’s no cost, no effort and nothing to lose, and employees can complete it as many times as they like, including sharing it with their friends, families and communities.”
