In its 104th year representing the mining, oil and gas and related industries, the Australian Resources and Energy Employer Association (AREEA) today announces the following changes to its Board of Directors.
AREEA is pleased to welcome the following new Directors to its Board:
- Julie Fallon, Acting Senior Vice President Corporate and Legal, Woodside Energy;
- Maria Sanz Perez, Chief Legal, Risk and Compliance Officer and Company Secretary, Newcrest Mining; and
- Joanne Taylor, Managing Director, Compass Group Australia.
–
The new AREEA Board appointees replace the following Directors who have left the Board after years of service and leadership:
- Meg O’Neill, CEO of Woodside Energy, who joined the Board in March 2019 and was appointed its Vice President in June 2020;
- Shelley Roberts, Group Chief Commercial Officer, Compass Group, appointed to the Board in September 2019; and
- Lisa Ali, former Chief People and Sustainability Officer at Newcrest Mining, who joined AREEA’s Board in August 2020 and vacated in March 2022.
–
AREEA is also pleased to announce Stuart Mathews, Executive Vice President of Gold Fields Australasia, as a new Vice President of its Board. Mr Mathews joined AREEA’s Board as a Director in October 2019.
AREEA President, Mr Tom Quinn, said:
“Today the Australian Resources and Energy Employer Association celebrates its first Annual General Meeting under the new ‘AREEA’ brand.
“The rebrand from the historical ‘Australian Mines and Metals Association’ entity has been driven by a growing need for the Association’s brand to properly reflect the full breadth of its membership network – the most nationally representative across the Australian resources and energy industry.
“This rebrand has now been formally endorsed by the Board of Directors and supported by its national membership base.
“It should be noted that this AGM takes place just one day out from the 2022 Federal Election, where again there are significant issues at stake for the resources and energy industry.
“In this environment, AREEA’s ability to bring its members together and represent their collective views and interests as a unified industry voice, is as important as ever.”
The Board of the Australian Resources and Energy Employer Association (AREEA) now comprises:
- Tom Quinn, AREEA President.
