The Morrison Government is committed to securing Australia’s economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic by supporting industries to grow and create jobs. This means ensuring proponents of major projects can navigate regulatory processes as quickly as possible and at the least cost, while maintaining the protections for the health and safety of our community.

To ensure Australia remains an attractive destination for investment, the Morrison Government will review the Major Projects Facilitation Agency (MPFA). The MFPA, housed within the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources, offers a range of services to help project proponents navigate Commonwealth Government approvals processes. Assistant Minister Morton (pictured), supported by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, will undertake the review to assess whether the MPFA’s role, functions, governance arrangements and resourcing are aligned with the Government’s objectives.

“Project proponents need a clear, certain and fast path to approval, where regulatory processes remain necessary. The review will look at how MPFA can enable proponents of nationally significant projects that align with the Government’s strategic objectives to navigate regulatory processes as quickly as possible, and at least cost,” said Assistant Minister Morton.
