Deputy Chief Executive
Tara Diamond is an experienced executive and strategic leader dedicated to advancing Australia’s resources and energy workforce. As Deputy Chief Executive of AREEA, she is responsible for a broad portfolio of national initiatives spanning workplace relations, workforce development, diversity and inclusion, policy and public affairs, member engagement, events, media and communications.
Reporting directly to AREEA’s Board and Chief Executive, Tara plays a central role in shaping the organisation’s growth, strategy, and value delivery to members across the mining, oil and gas, and allied service sectors. She leads a high-performing team delivering critical projects that respond to the evolving challenges and opportunities facing employers, including mental health and wellness, skilling, social licence, and workforce inclusion.
Tara is AREEA’s appointed representative on the Commonwealth Government’s National Workplace Relations Consultative Council, where she advocates for the industrial relations policy interests of members at the highest levels of government. She also leads AREEA’s national diversity initiative, the Australian Women in Resources Alliance (AWRA), which supports employers to build more gender-diverse and inclusive workforces.
In addition to her work with AREEA, Tara is a Director of the Australian Gender Equality Council and previously served on the Australian Industry and Skills Committee, where she contributed to national reform of vocational education and training (VET) policies and qualifications.
Before joining AREEA in 2011, Tara held senior management, commercial, and marketing roles in both Australia and the United Kingdom. She brings a wealth of experience in stakeholder engagement, public policy, and organisational leadership — with a strong commitment to collaboration, integrity, and long-term workforce sustainability.
