An industry-wide research program evaluating the impact of COVID-19 on the mental health of employees and leaders in the resources and energy industry is set to deliver its phase one findings.

The nationwide and industry specific research program, coordinated by AREEA, will deliver meaningful company and industry level findings and recommendations.

With a large number of resources and energy companies already participating in this first-of-its-kind national research program, the Resources and Energy Industry Workforce and Leaders Mental Health Research Program is well under way and now set to enter the second phase of the program.

The research will inform the development of industry tailored interventions which maximise organisational productivity, improve the wellbeing of leaders and employees and assist in the recovery from the impacts of COVID-19.

The program will also evaluate the cognitive load and decision-making of leaders and develop, implement, and assess the efficacy of developed interventions and evidence-based tools designed to support industry leaders.

The research program is being developed and conducted by the Mindshape research team in collaboration with AREEA. The research program consists of participating companies providing the National Industry Survey to their workforce. The National Industry Survey captures extensive information on key mental health, wellness and can be adapted to ensure organisation specific insights are derived.
