Legislation restoring the Australian Building & Construction Commission (ABCC) and extending its operation to offshore construction projects passed through the Senate on 30 November 2016, three years since it was first tabled.
Retaining / restoring the ABCC had been a key advocacy campaign for AREEA for almost a decade prior. Our lobbying was especially critical to ensuring the restored industrial watchdog has new jurisdiction to address militant and unlawful industrial tactics in the offshore resources sector and related supply chains.
